Automatic External Defibrillator

Is an Automatic External Defibrillator (AED) right for your workplace?

Consider the risk factors in your work environment. OSHA reports815 of the 6,399(13%) workplace fatalities reported in 1999-2000 were caused bySudden Cardiac Arrest (SCA). Jobs with shift work, high stress, exposure to certain chemicals, electrical hazards, or exposure to temperature extremes increase the risk of heart disease and SCA.

Although SCA can strike at any age, an older workforce or customer base will contain more individuals with underlying heart disease and medical problems which can lead to SCA.

The Suncoast Safety Council offers the reliable and easy to use Philips HeartStart units. The units have a clear, natural voice providing step-by-step instructions which guide you through each step of defibrillation and CPR.

From Top Safety, October 2007

Noise-induced hearing loss is one of the most common occupational diseases. Always wear your recommended equipment to prevent hearing loss (canal caps, earplugs or earmuffs), which may vary depending on the noise level and work environment. If you are uncertain, ask. If you have to shout over noise to be heard on or off the job, that noise could be damaging your hearing.
